Workout Elliptical

The elliptical is one of the new home fitness, physical activity that is carried out in the home. They are several years that the object makes itself heard. We treat it because it is one of the examples of low-intensity training which, as such, can only be recommended for beginners.

What? – If you stretch a circle according to a diameter, we get an ellipse. If in a circular motion (like pedaling) we associate, a move (such as cross-country skiing, in the race, there is also a vertical shift), we obtain an elliptical motion. In practice the elliptical is an evolution of the exercise bike (for example, example it is possible backward pedaling), being able to also train arms and shoulders with muscular work for the upper body.

The limits – As I said, it is one of the many situations that falls under the type of training known as low-intensity training: the subject does business, but does not realize that this activity after the first few initial successes, does not produce any improvement. The reasons are not inherent in the instrument, as in the conception that leads to an unnatural use way too soft.

It is true that you can burn a lot of calories and train hard, but to do so you must commit to such an extent that after 40-50 operating under the tool, there is a puddle of sweat. If this condition is reached occasionally, make it a rule in practice is psychologically impossible, unless you have an incredible motivation. Instead, it is typical to use the elliptical to easy levels, those with cardio. The error that is at the base is the thesis (a blunder physiologically significant) that to lose weight you need to work at low heart rates, blunder that many gyms serve to justify the low-intensity training. To fix the numbers, in an hour of elliptical to maximum intensity (something almost impossible for an untrained person) a 70 kg athlete can also burn 1,000 kcal, a beginner in an hour of elliptical generally does not exceed 300 kcal.

It is true that you burn more than treadmills and stationary bikes, but the multiplication factor should not be more than 1, 5 (certainly not the optimistic 3 peddled by many manufacturers). A slimming purpose is suited to those who began his contact with the sport as a means of transition towards more challenging.

The elliptical is a point of departure, not arrival.

If you are a beginner (in the sporting sense) may find benefit (among other things, you will not risk injury because there are no movements and / or dangerous loads), surely a sporty mid-level (in the case of the race, a jogger) can be overcharged very little because it already has a cardiovascular system and muscles that will not be particularly stimulated by an elliptical session. If you can find employment in rehabilitation (eg after a long injury or after surgery), cannot be used as a maintenance (besides, no professional uses).

Who makes home fitness (regardless of age and sex: Everyone can achieve a maximum workout) ie should know that the use of tools such as the elliptical certainly cannot give you a degree of training and cardiovascular and muscular changes that obtained with the practice in the medium to high-intensity outdoor sports (running, cycling, cross-country skiing, tennis, etc..).
