In fact, you have to check from time to time the brakes of your bike, especially the braking times, which if they start to be too long, then there is definitely some problem with the pads, the drum or some other component. To repair the brakes of your bike you must first understand what is not working and then proceed to the processing, then we see in the guide how to do.

Requirement: Wrench, Screwdriver, Spare parts.

First of all, the wear state of the pads must be checked: if the rubber between the pads and the wheel frame is less than one centimeter, it is necessary to change them. In this case, it will be necessary to buy the same type of pads and with the right key unscrew the old pads in order to insert the new ones.

Attention must be paid to the model of the bicycle because in some cases the drum must be loosened to allow more maneuvering space. Then slightly unscrew the drum screws and drag them down, taking care not to disassemble the entire mechanism. Then, at this point, lightly tighten these screws and replace the tablets: once finished, return and tighten the drum screws in their initial position.

You have to check the brake lever too: so when you hit it you have to try to understand if it is slow and then possibly tighten it properly. Beyond this, the correct action of the movement must be checked when the brakes are tightened through the drum. If the drum does not close every time you press the lever, then surely there will be some cable problem that will have broken inside. So in this case you have to unscrew each hook that holds the cable, remove it and replace it again, going over the same hooks.

For a good job, it can be useful to lubricate the various components, especially in the parts of the coupling that connect the wire to the main parts, such as in the drum and the handlebar. Check that the brake calipers of the handlebar are firm and then carry out a few test runs to check that everything is working properly.

Note : The pads must be inserted in the same inclination of the wheel frame to prevent them from screeching.
